In January, a nice Leinster coach named Ken, came to our school to teach us how to play tag rugby.
On the first day he introduced himself to us, taught us the rules of rugby and got us running around.
We played a few games for an hour every day such as Rats and Rabbits, Relay races and mini matches.
Some of the skills we learned include passing backwards, two hands on the ball, run forward and to place the ball to score a try instead of throwing it.
For fifteen minutes during every class, Ken split us into teams and got us into matches where he would get us to compete against each other.
Lauren’s favourite things about rugby is the competitive nature of the sport and how you are always able to learn new tricks and improve your skills. It is also a great way to make friends.
Amelia’s favourite things about rugby are going to play with friends, the good strategies, playing matches with other rugby teams and getting muddy and dirty!
