In Term 2, 5th class have engaged in many science activities. They have learned about heat conduction, have created lighthouses, used magnets and have created their own pulleys. They have most recently made butter, carried out experiments involving floating and sinking and looked at how fire needs oxygen to stay alight.

As part of Engineering Week, the girls made parachutes and attempted to fly egg-passengers to safety without breaking. They made marble-run rollercoasters and created unicorn enclosures.

The girls from 5th class are engaging in a 5-week engineering workshop with Alan and Evvie from Power Capital. So far they have learned about what it is to be an engineer, how to built wind-turbines and they have experimented with led lights, batteries and other materials to make circuits. Next week they hope to investigate solar energy and use the energy of the sun to power model cars.
