6th Class were delighted to be invited on a tour of Government Buildings by Senator Mary Seery Kearney, Scarlet from 2nd Class’s mum.

We met Senator Seery Kearney at the Dáil and she introduced us to Melisa and Anthony who were our hosts for the afternoon. Anthony gave us a fantastic guided tour and shared his in-depth knowledge of Leinster House with us. We sat in the Dáil Chamber which was in session and watched Leo Varadkar debate with various TD’s.

Anthony was kept on his toes answering our questions and we finished the tour with a visit to the Seanad.

With the formalities over, we retired to the cafe where Senator Seery Kearney had a goodie bag waiting for each of us. We devoured the muffins, crisps and drinks and also received a second bag containing more souvenirs as a reminder of our day.

We would like to thank Anthony, Melisa and of course Senator Seery Kearney for a fabulous afternoon. It certainly piqued our interest in politics….. and we may even have the first female Taoiseach in our midst!!
