National Curriculum

Our curriculum encompasses the content, structure and processes of learning, which we provide in accordance with our educational objectives and values. We aim for a broad, balanced, integrated, stimulating curriculum appropriate to the needs of our individual students. Naturally we follow the Primary School Curriculum as set out by the Department of Education and Science.

Computer Class

The core subjects in our curriculum are:

  • English
  • Gaeilge
  • Maths
  • History, Geography and Science, now known as Social Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE)
  • Visual Arts, Music and Drama
  • Physical Education, including Dance
  • Religion
  • Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) including a module on Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)

This curriculum is enhanced with specialist tuition in Information and Communications Technology.

Our Loreto School appreciates the life-affirming qualities of the arts and physical education. All students have the opportunity to participate in and experience positive recreational activities, through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities. Team sports help build confidence and competence, each pupil is challenged to realise her full potential, to work in cooperation with others and to empathise with others. The holistic development of your child is of paramount importance to us.
