6th Class History
Kilmainham Gaol
Thursday, February 1, 2018 (All day)

On Feb. 1st, 6th class paid a visit to Kilmainham Gaol. They visited the church where Joseph Plunkett married Grace Gifford the night before his death. They walked the corridors where famous leaders of the 1916 Rising, including Padraig Pearse, were held prisoner. They visited the courtyard where the many leaders were executed by firing squad, most famously James Connolly and viewed the balcony from which so many criminals were publicly hung to discourage others from carrying out similar crimes. A moving and memorable experience all round!
