5th Class Engineering 2018

5th Class Engineering 2018
Trip to the Wax Museum
Monday, February 19, 2018 (All day)

As part of Engineers Week 2018, 5th Class travelled to the National Wax Museum in Westmoreland Street.. The museum has so much to explore in its Science and Discovery zone celebrating Irish inventors, engineers and scientists. The work began at school when Ms Kelly printed out a quiz for the girls to tackle on their trip. There was a great buzz in the air as we all rushed around trying to find the answers to the many questions. The museum was interactive and had real experiments and figures to examine and touch.
We learned about men and women who invented weird and wonderful items that we still use to this day. From the Ferguson Tractor to fibre optics displays, there was something for everyone!
With the hard work out of the way, we entered the ‘maze of mirrors.’ This was a little scary as we were all bumping in to each other. It was such fun! We then got to see the wax dummies of lots of famous people. Ms Walsh and Ms Kelly took plenty of photos of us with our favourite celebrities. The morning ended with those of us who were brave enough visiting the ‘House of Horrors’. This was similar to a ghost train and not for the faint hearted!
All agreed we had a super morning and learned so much about the wonderful Irish inventors, scientists and engineers who were featured in the museum. Who knows.....it could be one of us in the near future!!!
